On to challenge number two of the Project Quilting Challenges, and not surprisingly more bags!

This challenge was do to fussy cutting, which is something I have been doing a lot of lately with my Tula Pink City Sampler quilt.

This time I started with making several different quilt sandwiches and then decided what type of bags they could become. For a couple of the pieces, I used tiny left over scraps from my previous fussy cutting projects, quilted under tulle.

Then I made some scrappy random blocks that were built around a fussy cut of some heart fabric that has been in my stash for a while. All my quilt squares were very random and fully scrappy, no yardage was cut to make these blocks, it all came from my scrap bins.

I searched through my various purse books, patterns and magazines, of which I have a few. But didn’t find anything exactly like what I wanted. So I mostly made it up as I went along. SO I still haven’t ventured into zippers. Maybe next time.

I ended up with a large messenger bag and a smaller sling bag. I am very happy with both of them. Although the fussy cutting doesn’t show up on the messenger bag as much as I would like. Both are fully lined with a sturdy and long cross-body style strap. I am working on a little ecommerce store to be opening soon! Luckily, I have no place to go, or I might have a hard time letting go of these 2 bags.
