The sassy llama quilt got started just a week or two into our stay at home order… I requested a “mystery fat quarter pack” from my Quilt shop which came with a pattern. I also asked for a fun panel I had seen last time I was in, and Mindy matched the mystery pack to the panel. I wanted happy upbeat colors and images. This fit the bill. I did curbside pick up and started cutting and planning. It actually took a lot of little borders to get the panel to fit into the sized blocks that I needed.
Then once it was pieced I decided to use as many different quilting motifs from my Free Motion Quilting Rockstar Academy to quilt it. In addition to the 9 motifs shown here, I included continuous curves, basic stippling/ meander and outlining of the images. So out of the 30+ motifs we learned, I have included 1/3 of them in this quilt. The funny thing is, as much as I enjoyed making this… it isn’t really my style and I can’t think of anyone that it might be good for… so not sure what will ultimately happen with this one. But before I decide… I do still need to bind it!
